Japanese Lesson｜How to order McDonald’s in Japan?

I am Sarina and I am Japanese teacher!

I used to work in McDonald’s for 3years when I was high school student!

So, Today’s lesson is,,,,

How to order McDonald’s in Japan!
Whenever I go to the overseas I normally go to McDonald’s as I am familiar with them, so I guess you also can go to McDonald’s when you came to Japan!

Let’s see some menu in McDonald’s in japan!

Menu in McDonald’s

We have 3 kind of Menu which are Morning menu/Regular menu/Night menu

Morning menu called [あさマック]　(ASaASa MaKKu)＝朝マック

Regular menu called [レギュラー]　（Re Gyu Ra a）

Night menu called [よるまっく] (YoRu MaKKu)＝夜マック

朝マック【～１０：３０】

Morning menu is from open time to 10:30.
If the McDonald’s open 24hours, 朝マック is from 5am to 10:30.

レギュラー【１０：３０～】

It is like a basic menu and you can order after 10:30~.
Before 10:30 you only can buy 朝マックmenu

夜マック【１７：００～】

夜マック is same menu as a Regular menu but you can pay extra 100yed and then you can get double patty.

So if you order double burger with 夜マック, you will get 4 patty with extra 100yen!

How to say Single item and meals in Japanese

As you know, McDonald’s can order single item or meals(Combo, set menu).

Single item

Single item called [たんぴん]（TaNPiN）＝単品

So you can say,

おねがいします(ONeGaIShiMaSu) means [Please]

Meals set

Meals set clled [セット]（Setto）

So you can say,

How to order McDonald’s in Japan

1, Eat in or Take away

When you go to McDonald’s, at first Shop assistant will tell you
[いらっしゃいませ] (I Ra Ssha I Ma Se ) which mean [Welcome to come here]

and then they will greet [こんにちは]

After that they will ask [店内（てんない）で　おめしあがり　でしょうか？]
(TeNNaI De OMeShiAGaRi DeSyouKa)

it means [Do you want to eat in the shop?]

If you want to eat in the shop , you can answer,

はい。おねがいします。

はい。おねがいします。[Hai, ONeGaIShiMaSu]

It means [Yes please]

but if you want to do take away, you can say,

いいえ。持ち帰り（もちかえり）でおねがいします。

いいえ。持ち帰りでおねがいします。[IIE. MoChiKaERiDe ONeGaIShiMaSu]

[持ち帰り（MoChiKaERi）] means [Take away]

So, 「いいえ、持ち帰りで　おねがいします。」

means [No, Takeaway please]

2, Start ordering what you want

If you have a coupon , you can tell the coupon number or show the coupon to the shop assistant.

That time you can say,

クーポンで おねがいします。[KuUPoNDe ONeGaIShiMaSu]

and then you can tell the Coupon number!

If you don’t have any coupons and you want to order meals set.

1. Choose Burger

So at first you say

[セットでおねがいします。]

and then you can choose burger which you want to.

You can just pointed the menu or you can say Burger name.

2. Choose Side menu

You can choose side menu

1, Fried Potato

2, Nugguets
(You also have to choose sause BBQ or Mastard)

3, Salad

3, Choose drink

You can ask if you do not know which drink you can choose!

Normally they will give you [M size] but if some drink which need extra fee will give you [S size] such as Mac shake or Cafe Latte etc.

Then at last of order you can say

[Ijou De ONeGaIShiMaSu]

It is the sign for finish order.

Payment in MacDonald’s

After finished your order

Shop assistant will check what did you orderand then ask you

[いじょうで　おまちがいないでしょうか？](IJou De O Ma Chi Ga E Nai De Sho U Ka? )

Which means [Is it all correct?]

And if it was all correct(Your order),

You can say [はい]

After you told [はい]

They will tell you the price

[おかいけい　は　〜えん　です。](OKaIKeI Wa ~EN DeSu)

Which means [Payment will be ~ yen]

Then you can pay.

After you paid they will ask wait in next counter

or give you Number card if you are eat in.

And then you will get your MacDonald’s product!
